HELLO HOUSTON...
Marilyn Walter is a contemporary, mixed media artist. She is currently residing and working in Houston, Texas.
Marilyn grew up in Kuwait and Iran. Her travel experiences and international upbringing continues to influence her work. She is most at home using multiple art mediums in many forms to create her unique portraits and landscapes.
Each piece is a visual snapshot of images she investigates, capturing and combining a personal relationship with various places, nature, personality, and energy.
Walter studied at Fairleigh Dickinson University, NJ, continuing her art education pursuits by attending Bank Street/Parsons, NYC and several Summer Residency Programs at the School of Visual Arts, NYC. In West Palm Beach, FL she has facilitated a series of collaborative art projects and taught sketching and watercolor workshops at Mounts Botanical Garden, West Palm Beach, FL.
Community Arts and Professional support are both integral to her art career and education. Walter was a Resident with the Makor/Steinhardt Center, NYC, a team member of the Social Engagement HomeBase IV Project, NYC, and Artist in Resident at The Hacklab, Boynton Beach, FL. In 2021, she was nominated assistant curator for the Captured DBA Exhibition, ArtServe, FL.
Walter is currently teaching an adult class at Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts, Spring, Texas.
